Yoga, unlike other physical activities, emphasizes self-acceptance,which is something that's largely missing for those of us who dislike our bodies. The program in our heads—I'm not pretty enough, thin enough, tall enough—builds in volume over yearsuntil it's practically the only radio station playing.Odd as it seems, the vessel that keeps us alive, that nourishes us, begins to get nothing but our scorn in return.Yoga isn't a miracle. But it does allow us to recognize the miracle we inhabit,to move from a world that emphasizes physical beautyand ideal body shapes into one that teaches us to honor the power our body offers. Dear Friends,
Our chair yoga classes which are taught by Debbie Seals are doing well. We are moving them to noon on Tuesday and Thursday (on January 29th). This is a "Bring a Friend for Free" type of class. If you know of someone who would enjoy a gentle yoga practice at an easier pace with the benefit of a chair, please invite them to class. I like the joint movement and range of motion elements of the practice. Debbie does an excellent job with this class, and I hope you will consider adding them to your week.
Vinyasa Flow for Beginners and Intermediates will begin on Tuesday and (on January 31st) Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. Unless I am out of town, I will be the teacher of this practice of breath and movement. If you want a heated practice with some Chaturangas, this might be the class for you! We will also be doing a lot of standing postures and balancing practice.
Some of you have mentioned adding a "Kundalini" class back into the schedule! After the Weight Winners and Ayurveda Overcomers complete their workshop series, we will make it our 10:30 a.m. class on Saturday mornings. It is fast, fun, and totally different than our regular Hatha Yoga practice. This will begin in February on the 23rd. Please let me know if this Kundalini practice is something you might enjoy. Thank you.
Last Sunday afternoon we enjoyed a "photo shoot" with Jenipher Rowe. She did an amazing collection of photographs which you will see on our Facebook postings andwww.tranquilityyogastudio.com I am also building a website for my OSU class called, "Standing on the Shoulders of Giants in Learning." This website will have yoga resources for you to check out if you are interested in learning more about postures, meditation, or practice. It is not ready yet, but it is in the works.
Exciting things are going on at Tranquility Yoga in Owasso LLC!
