Undertaker: These people are somewhat pessimistic, sluggish in moving, and bring in a negative value. The longer people perform at this level the more damage they do to themselves. Daily does less than he or she can; gradually becomes, less than he or she is. Undertakers bring a toxic environment and are usually the scoffer in the group. They may reluctantly join, but they really do not want to be there; and it shows.
Caretaker: No new ideas, no going above what is required, and they are not motivated. Status quo is enough. They barely rise to the occasion and often complain the whole time they do. Base line work. Their constant question: How much can I do to get by on the arriving at the last moment and being the first one to leave? Please, Caretakers, don't complain about the success you do not have, if you have not done the work you were called to do. Lots of excuses. They never add to the group atmosphere. I call them, "Polite Selfishness."
Play Maker: Normally, have more energy and talent. They will occasionally do great things with talent. But are not consistent enough. They have moments of brightness like the Game Changer, play a vital role, can elevate themselves to role models in the environment, but sometimes wear out in the long haul. When I was a basketball coach for Middle School boys and girls many years ago, I saw "play makers" as the ones who were "Me, me, me" focused. They rarely passed the ball. When they did well, the play makers would be so busy celebrating their own success that they failed to notice that the other team had the ball. Very competitive to make a name for themselves and not always a team player.
Game Changer: Unstoppable. Relentless. Unyielding. Team members that bring effort, energy, and attitude towards the common goal. Growth mindset; they are not afraid to fail or take a risk. When they hit a wall, they bounce. They don't quit. Game Changers are always learning, always striving to become more motivated, and always persistent. They may fall seven times, but they get up 8.
Which one are you? Be the person, the somebody, no one thought you could be; but you always knew you have the seeds of greatness inside.
